What’s the big obsession with people caring what people online think about them?

Recently I’ve had alot of people saying “I heard you fell out with <*insert the name of someone I've never met in real life, and only talk to online, here*>… You’re falling out with alot of people recently!”

They all seem quite bewildered when I just shrug and say “and?”, which is just strange… Why should I care if someone I’ve never met, (never had any intention of meeting, and quite frankly, would want to meet anyways) doesn’t like me?

Ooooohhhhh the internetttttt!!!111one Everyone cares if someone they don’t know doesn’t like them anymore! The horror! The social shame! I get treated like a freak for just not caring! Am I so wrong to have more to my life than just the net..?
